Abu
Siddeeq
Trustee
Abu has built a successful career in the transport sector, leading teams across BAA and TfL, before joining rail operators GWR and then LNER. Since 2023, Abu has been serving as Customer Experience Director for local rail operator c2c, where he oversees Stations, Revenue Protection, Security, Customer Relations and Communications teams.
Having previously fostered young people, along with his social worker wife, Abu understands the societal risks and challenges that young people face and is determined to help making things better for them through the work of the Y. As a local to the area, where Abu lives with his wife and two daughters, the opportunity to help young people in our community and to support the good work already taking place was a real attraction to joining the Board.

Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about helping organisations tell clearer, more human stories. My experience as a journalist shaped a deep curiosity about people, culture and community, which still influences my work today. I’m particularly interested in supporting young people to build confidence, communication skills and opportunities for the future. I’m involved with Southend YMCA because I really value its commitment to helping young people feel supported, empowered and part of a community that believes in their potential.

Clyde Williams, Director-Owner, ShoNet, with offices in North London and New Delhi.
I have worked across Europe, The Middle East and Africa in commercial settings for organisations such as IBM.
I have extensive experience of working with management and staff teams who are striving to determine how modern technology can assist them with improving the quality of services they deliver. Clients include The Academy of Medical Sciences, One YMCA and Tottenham Hotspur Foundation.
Following the Tottenham Riots in conjunction with the author Charles Handy and photographer Elizabeth Handy, I organised a "Made in Tottenham" project to support young entrepreneurs, to recognise their initiatives and give voice to the message that Tottenham was open for business.
Recently stepped down as Associate Non-Executive Director at Barts Health NHS Trust, focused on improving engagement with our local communities and combating health inequalities.
The highlight of my career is working in South Africa on a nation-wide program sponsored by the UK Government to facilitate the South African inaugural elections in 1994.
