For the past 4 weeks Southend YMCA has been working with an international relations degree student from Stendhal Grenoble 3, (France) going into her final year of studying.
Florence Bady, 23, who is partaking in an internship YMCA France, has also linked in with Southend YMCA for the planning and evaluation of Southend Priorities – A Case of Reconciliation (See more).
The work during her stay has included essential translation work, budgeting, bid writing, evaluation and reporting to funders.
Later this month she’ll return to her home town, for a couple of months holiday before starting again in September at University.
Syrie Cox, CEO at Southend YMCA said ‘Florence has become a valuable member of the team, and as we’re working on projects such as CORE, her work has been important for the future of the organisation’.
Whilst residing in Southend for the duration of her stay, she returned to France to participate and help facilitate the CORE project – a lot of travelling back and forth!
At the end of her degree in January 2012, followed by an internship for 6 months, Florence hopes to be able to work on international relations and development projects.
‘I’ve really enjoyed at Southend YMCA, I’ve learnt a lot from the people I’ve worked with and it will really benefit my studies’.
